Itinerary  Day 1. Amsterdam. Be met at the airport and transferred to your river ship, moored just a skip away from the city -centre. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Cocktail Reception. After dinner, relax on board or take a walk into town to experience Amsterdam’s vibrant nightlife. Stay: 14 nights aboard APT’s ms Amadagio, Amalegro, Amacello, Amadante, Amalyra or Amadolce, ms Excellence or the ms Sound of Music Dx1 Day 2. Amsterdam, Freedom of Choice Touring. After breakfast, choose either a guided canal boat cruise through the heart of the city or a visit to the famous Van Gogh Museum. Enjoy some time at leisure before you depart Amsterdam after lunch, setting sail towards the German city of Cologne. Later tonight, you’ll be a guest at the Captain’s Gala Wel-come Dinner. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 3. Cologne – Koblenz. In Cologne, tour through the old section of Germany’s fourth largest city, including a visit to the World Heritage-listed Cologne Cathedral. Then continue cruising along the Rhine to Koblenz and after dinner, take an evening walk. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 4. Mainz. Today cruise through the Rhine Gorge and pass Lorelei Rock before arriving in Mainz, where you’ll take a city tour. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure, before a Crew Show tonight concludes the day. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 5. Miltenberg – Wertheim. Arrive in Miltenberg and take a refreshing walking tour of this picturesque Franconian town. Then continue to Wertheim, strategically located where the Main and Tauber rivers meet. Witness a local glass-blowing performance before re-boarding the ship, then relax while you cruise through the sunny valleys of the meandering Main. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 6. Würzburg. Surrounded by hills covered with vineyards, Würzburg is the capital of Lower Franconia. During a tour here, you’ll see all the major sights. Later this afternoon perhaps take an optional excursion to medieval Rothenburg, a walled city on the Romantic Road. After dinner, enjoy a medieval music performance as the ship cruises overnight to Bamberg. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 7. Bamberg. A World Heritage-listed site, take a tour of Bamberg and, unique to APT, visit a traditional Beer Haus to enjoy a local smokey beer on us. Rejoining the ship, you’ll enter the Main-Danube Canal, which links the North and Black seas, before arriving in Nuremberg. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 8. Nuremberg – Continental Divide, Freedom of Choice Touring. This morning choose to take a medieval tour of Nuremberg, visiting such attractions as the 900 year-old ramparts that surround the city, the Imperial Castle and the Kaiserburg Fortress. Or perhaps immerse yourself in the history of World War II, visiting the site of the Nuremberg Trials, the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tri-bunal sat in 1946 and other historical World War II places. At lunch, continue along the canal and arrive at the highest point of your cruise, 435 metres above sea level, before descending through stair-step locks. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 9. Regensburg. Arrive in Regensburg today, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. See one of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube and embark on a guided tour of the city, visiting the Old Town Hall, the World Heritage-listed city centre, the Porta Pretoria - gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD - and more. Tonight, entertainers perform on board. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 10. Passau – Linz, Freedom of Choice Touring. After breakfast you’ll arrive in Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Our Freedom of Choice Touring allows you to either take a full day tour to Salzburg and its ‘Sound of Music’ sights or embark on a tour of historical Passau, including a trip to St Stephen’s Cathedral. After dinner, take a stroll through the pretty town of Linz. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 11. Melk – Dürnstein – Krems. Cruise through the Wachau Valley this morning and take a tour of Melk’s Benedictine Abbey. When it’s time to depart, you might like to borrow one of the bicycles stored on board and ride along the banks of the Danube from Melk to -Dürnstein. In -Dürnstein, enjoy a walking tour through medieval streets that reveal 16th century town houses and wine taverns. Con-tinue to Krems, centre of the Wachau wine industry. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 12. Vienna, Freedom of Choice Touring. Today in the Austrian capital of Vienna, select your touring activity from our enthralling Freedom of Choice Touring options. Following this, the afternoon is at your leisure to do with as you choose. Here, take a sightseeing tour including places such as 500 year-old Matthias Church, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and Buda Castle. Later, see a private music performance over a glass of champagne at the Hungarian State Opera House. Tonight enjoy a Gala Fare-well Dinner as Gypsy violinists play. Bx1 Lx1 Dx1 Day 15. Disembark Ship, Depart Budapest. After breakfast your tour concludes as you disembark and transfer to the airport.
