Le Cordon Bleu® 2006 Workshop Sailings

Don your aprons and man your whisks aboard Seven Seas Mariner.

Since so many of our guests not only appreciate fine food, but love to cook as well, we receive enormous interest in our intensive Le Cordon Bleu Classe Culinaire des Croisieres. These workshops, taught by the visiting Le Cordon Bleu chefs, are a dynamic, hands-on introduction to the art of French cooking. So that every participant can have an opportunity to interact with our chefs and practice his or her skills, individual classes are limited to just 16 guests. In three intensive two-hour workshops, guests will watch fascinating cooking demonstrations detailing the preparation and presentation of French cuisine - updated for contemporary tastes - and discover the secrets and techniques of world-renowned chefs as each participant prepares selections taken from the ship's own Le Cordon Bleu menus.

Upon graduation, guests will receive their own chef's apron and short toque, a tea towel, a special Le Cordon Bleu cookbook of classic recipes and a certificate of participation.

Award-winning Relais du Plaza executive chef Philippe Marc will join the 700-guest, all-balcony suite Seven Seas Voyager's May 6, seven-night Funchal to Monte Carlo voyage as she calls at Casablanca , Málaga, Palma de Majorca, Barcelona and Sète ( Carcassonne ). In cooking demonstrations onboard, the master chef will share with guests the savoir-faire of the elegant "brasserie chic" cuisine of the Alain Ducasse restaurant, and offer a five-course signature tasting menu in Compass Rose restaurant one evening of the sailing. The culinary experience will be rounded out with a series of wine tastings and discussions about food and wine pairings, and topped off with Chef Marc leading a shopping expedition during an informal market visit in port.

A culinary adventure aboard Seven Seas Navigator sailing August 09, 2006.

Joie de vivre thrives on the Seven Seas Navigator's August 9 cruise from Dover to Monte Carlo calling at St. Malo, Bordeaux (overnight), Santander , La Coruña , Vigo , Lisbon , Cádiz, and Barcelona . During the 10-night voyage, Relais du Plaza's head sommelier Didier Thomas, who oversees one of the best wine cellars in Paris , will share with guests his extensive knowledge of wine in four tastings, including one focusing on Champagne and another - fittingly - on the wines of Bordeaux .

Taking a deeper dive into the Parisian lifestyle, Jean-Claude Elgaire, head concierge of the Plaza Athénée, will share his 47 years of hotel experience, discussing the ever changing styles of the City of Lights and the "hidden" Paris - from where to shop to where to find the perfect cassoulet. Adding a touch of variation to French cuisine, the voyage also welcomes aboard guest chef Frank Stitt from Birmingham , Alabama 's acclaimed Highlands Bar and Grill, which specializes in mixing the culinary traditions of the American South with the South of France.

Mr. Farmer is a James Beard Award-winning wine and food writer based in South Florida . Both gentlemen have spent considerable time in the Mediterranean and look forward to sharing their enthusiasm for the region's food and wine through a series of tastings and culinary explorations.

Sweet, Bitter, Pale or Dark -it's all good aboard Seven Seas Navigator Chocolate cruise sailing December 11, 2006.

On December 11, the Spotlight turns to Sweets, showcasing several favorite confections (including chocolate) as the Seven Seas Navigator sails roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale to Princess Cays, San Juan , St. Thomas , and Nassau . Aboard the seven-night voyage, guests will be guided by one of the world's great dessert masters, Christophe Michalak, head pastry chef at the Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris and captain of the 2005 Pastry World Cup winning team. Chef Michalak will treat dinner guests to his gold medal-winning creation along with three other signature desserts during the cruise. In addition, he will show how to make some of his favorite desserts during two cooking demonstrations.

Of course, no trip to the Caribbean is complete without a relaxing cocktail, so Thierry Hernandez, director of the Bar du Plaza Athénée and named "Best Bartender in Europe," joins the voyage to stir up a continental twist on some classic drinks, and also showcase some new libations. From Martini Lollies and Jellied Cosmopolitans to his now-classic Rose Royale cocktail, Thierry will take mixology to new heights and sensations in a series of demonstrations.
